                                                        THE FLAG TODAY

The flag of the United States of America has 13 horizontal stripes - 7 red and white 6 - alternating red and white stripes and a union formed by the five-pointed white stars on a blue background placed in the top quarter close to the staff and extends to the lower edge of the red room at the top. The number of stars equal the number of states of the Union. The proportions of the flag as required by the decree of President Eisenhower, August 21, 1959 are as follows:
